My beautiful friends Esther and John had a gorgeous wedding at the Swaneset Bay Resort and Country Club. Even though the weather was cloudy and it poured intermittently throughout the day, their cheerfulness and joy shined through the grayness and the rain. What’s more, all the thought they had put into the simple yet elegant decor and details really paid off. If you are ever worried about weather, worry no more when you see just how wonderful, awesome their wedding turned out! Stay til the end to see more of their spectacular sparkler’s exit, which they almost forgot in all the fun they were having with their guests haha!
I want to give special thanks to Frank Wang, whom Esther and John had first hired as main photographer, for letting me shoot alongside him and giving me the opportunity to capture these special memories for them as well.
Esther and John’s “Pharmatastic” Story
Esther and John met at the UBC Pharmacy first year meet and greet barbeque. Drawn by their love for free food—to my student friends, it’s okay to admit it, I know, I was there once ;)—they both showed up with their respective friends and sat together in a big group. But alas, it was not for another year and a half before they spoke to each other again!
In the later half of second year in pharmacy school, they were placed in the same “CAPS” class, a small six people group where they work together on practical cases every week. Whenever Esther needed help with schoolwork, John was always there. He even called her once on Skype to explain some pharmacokinetics (what the body does to the drug, including its absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion etc). Smart people alert.
Finally, Esther and John became friends and continued to see each other during that summer even after school ended. They became an official couple during the Celebration of Lights (fireworks) finale in August 2013. They don’t remember the exact date they became a couple, even though they can remember all the pharmacokinetics of complex medications! Esther and John celebrate their anniversary with the yearly fireworks finale! Now that’s a killer way of celebrating anniversaries! Love it!

Moving back indoors for gift exchange
Since it was only sprinkling, we decided to take a chance and head over to Pitt Lake for some more portraits.
Didn’t get to stay there long though… it POURED! So we headed back to the venue, and that’s when the rain stopped…
Classy and elegant decor, perfect for this venue
Can’t let the rain stop us from taking beautiful bride and groom portraits!
These were candy pill bottles! Of course! They are both pharmacists! Super cute.
