In life, there are challenges that push up against the hull of our boat. They force us to look at what is important and embrace new beginnings. These challenges often anchor what becomes an incredible love story. Before I show you their engagement photos in West Vancouver, I’d like to tell you a little love story that started with their mutual love for good wine and adventures on the sea…
Being a safe harbour for each other, Corinne and Ian have weathered the storms, and found a place of true love, and restored happiness for themselves and Corinne’s daughter, Ella.
A REMARKABLE LOVE STORY
The story of how Corinne and Ian met up to the day Ian proposed goes like this… They had both lived in Whistler for over 13 years but had never crossed paths. It is a wonder that two people can be so close in one place, yet never connect. However, I would say, they met at the right moment, for that moment allowed their relationship to blossom ever so beautifully.
Corinne and Ian were invited by different friends to attend Cornucopia, a wine festival in Whistler. As Ian thinks back to the moment that he first held Corinne in his gaze, he describes her as a “shiny lure”. He got the courage, liquid courage, to speak with her and build the connection between them. The next week, after a few texts, Ian was sure of the special person he had found. He invited Corinne to dinner, to which she said yes. Their love story had begun!
Early in the morning of Christmas Eve in 2019, Ella came running into the bedroom, excited for the gifts that Santa had left! They were staying at Corinne’s parents’ home. They were all dressed in matching Christmas pajamas sent by Ian’s mom, and the moment on its own was a sparkle of Christmas magic. Asking Corinne and Ella to wait in the room for a little while, Ian went off to make some joy of his own. After a little while, he asked Corinne and Ella to join him. When they opened the door, they found a thick, red, velvet ribbon leading them from the room to their Christmas tree, and specifically, to a kneeling Ian holding a little box. In his hands, he held rings for both Corinne and Ella, a touching commitment to the both of them.
Of course, they both said Yes!
ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS IN WEST VANCOUVER
The weather was a gift on the day of Ian and Corinne’s engagement photo session in West Vancouver, at the gorgeous marina of Eagle Harbour Yacht Club These photographs give tribute to land and water in what would be some of the very first portraits of their new life together.
They imagined their engagement session on their family boat. The results are beautiful. Corinne’s dress wraps her in a bouquet of flowers, hair falling in natural waves down her back. Ian looks fresh in a white button-down shirt and slacks. Together they paint jubilance in every frame. The Straight of Georgia made for an effortless backdrop, water meeting land meeting sky. It was so different being out actually ON the sea on the west coast of Vancouver that it seemed as though we had our very own Lake Como right here in Canada.
The waters are calm as they share a toast of Veuve Clicquot Brut. Corinne’s hair is swept back by the brief ocean breeze that affords Ian the opportunity to ever so gently bless the day with a kiss. Their hands joined, Corinne’s beautiful engagement ring captures the glint of the sun’s rays. They gaze at each other, she his “shiny lure”, he her perfect catch. Trust and commitment lap against their hearts with excitement for their future. Their bond always anchored in love.
The sun sets on their photo session, splashing the sky with vivid oranges and pinks. We leave them to dream of their wedding day and what life has planned for them along their voyage together.
Ian and Corinne, may the sweetest love and greatest blessings be with you both on your journey. I can’t tell you how happy I am for you both! I am so honored to be able to document your love story and wedding day. Here’s to forever love and many happy days ahead!
