What is a wedding photograph? It is a painting of a moment in time, the people, the emotions, the gestures all culminating into a lifelong promise of love! Jessica and Brandon’s intimate backyard wedding in Vancouver was a picture-perfect day that will feature in their love story for all of their years to come.
Years of memories together
From a sweet summer band camp crush to a picturesque romance, Jessica and Brandon have shared a decade of perfect moments. With family and friends at his back, Brandon proposed to Jessica on a December’s day in 2019. How? By learning guitar and singing her a song, an effort that gained him an excited and emotional yes!
Wedding Planning during COVID
Jessica and Brandon originally planned their wedding at Riverway Golf Club, but because of COVID restrictions, they decided to have an intimate backyard wedding in Vancouver instead. This way, they celebrated with their closest friends and honoring their parents and families with a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony. The next day, they were to fly out for their mountain elopement.
The day started at Element Vancouver where Jessica and Brandon separately got ready and each spent a lovely morning with their closest friends. I could not get over how beautiful Jessica and her bridesmaids were! Also, I always get excited when they pop champagne together in the morning! So much fun!
Bride’s First Look with Parents
Another sweet moment was the parent’s first look. Jessica’s parents stood on the sidewalk with anticipation. They could not wait to see their daughter dressed in white. Jessica walked towards them from behind. They turned around, and I had the honor of capturing some of the sweetest frames! Their expressions were priceless, their love for Jessica evident on their faces.
An Intimate Wedding Celebration
Jessica and Brandon’s beautiful backyard wedding celebration was a hue of creams and pinks. Roses and peonies, with sprigs of delicate eucalyptus, formed elegant bouquets, and summer flowers stood watch around the garden as guests gathered. Jessica’s bridesmaids had planned a list of door games for Brandon and his groomsmen. They slew each challenge that came their way, Jessica watching from afar, hidden behind the balcony door.
Some of the highlights of the day included a lovely traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony with their parents, grandmothers, and relatives. Jessica’s dream cake by @summersundaycakes crowned the affair with absolute grace in delicate pinks and golds. A forever treasured experience for Jessica was having her dad walk her “down the aisle”, or rather down the stairs, giving her away to her husband-to-be.
Every special moment of their ceremony was captured by Vivian Ng Photography and second photographer (thanks Andrew!) for the day: from all the preparations, Jessica’s beautiful wedding dress with beaded bodice, to their eyes meeting for the first time before the ceremony, Brandon’s breath catching slightly as Jessica and her father walked towards him. Their bond is now sealed by vows and the first kisses of the rest of their now officially united love story.
Many blessings to my lovely bride and groom
The sun blanketed the couple for the rest of their day. A mighty willow tree backdropped behind them. Willow trees symbolize rebirth and hope, strength, and protection. Jessica and Brandon, all these blessings I wish for your new life together. I am so honored that you chose Vivian Ng Photography to document your garden-charm wedding day. These photos will warm your home, and many more will be added as you live the rest of your love story. May your marriage be always filled with much warmth and laughter with each other!
Love always,
Vivian
Intimate Backyard Wedding in Vancouver
Kind Words from the Couple
Vivian was AMAZING to work with for our wedding day! Prior to our big day, Vivian made sure we were on the same page in terms of the timeline, knew exactly the specific groups and people to take portraits with, what we wanted and envisioned for our wedding day, and so much more! Her professionalism and attention to detail made us feel so comforted and definitely helped me (the crazy stressful, worry-wart of a bride) create a great clear vision of what to expect. Vivian is a great communicator and was so helpful whenever we had any questions.
During the wedding day, our whole bridal team had so much fun shooting with Vivian and her team. She made us feel comfortable and remembered the specific styles and “wedding poses” I envisioned! We just had our wedding a couple of days ago, and already received a little preview of some of our bridal team photos! I jumped out of my seat with excitement!! YOU ARE SUPER!!
If you are looking for a wonderful, super talented, sweet and personable, photographer that takes beautiful photos, VIVIAN IS YOUR GIRL!!!
