Granville Island Engagement Photos

I was ecstatic to find there were very few people around Granville Island on a weekday afternoon. While scouting around for good locations to shoot before the engagement session, I found canoes tied to a dock: a perfect place to take pictures! As most Vancouverites know, Granville Island is a popular place for both locals and tourists alike. There are so many scenic areas to take a stroll! There are also lots of little gift shops, a public market, and restaurants all around. Since Elaine and Tim, a sweet couple from Hong Kong, wanted some cityscapes in their photos, Granville Island worked out perfectly since we can see the urban city of Yaletown just across the waters.

Elaine and Tim had flown across the world to visit their family here. They had just come back from a trip, and was only staying a couple more days in Vancouver before they fly home. Their wedding is about half a year away, and they are planning more formal prewedding photos in Korea. I was more than excited when they contacted me for a casual engagement session in Vancouver during their short stay here.

As usual, the weather forecast in Vancouver was not looking good. However, there were no other dates that we were able to shoot. Even as I drove to meet them, it was dark, foggy, and half snowing and raining very heavily. But God, in His sovereign grace, granted us a few hours that afternoon with clear skies and even some beautiful sunshine! As we ended the shoot, it started raining again! Even though we had little time to plan, we managed to pull together an almost impromptu engagement shoot on Granville Island.

Elaine and Tim, I am super honored to capture a day in the life of your engagement season! Thanks so much for contacting me and letting me be a tiny part of your beautiful love journey! May God bless your journey towards marriage and beyond, strengthening your relationship through the years to come!
